New full professor at CITM of the UPC
Since last January, the member of the LMI research group, Josep Torelló, has joined to the staff of the CITM (Center of Image and Multimedia Technology) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya as a full professor. Congratulations!

This article examines work in the filmography of the Catalan director Pere Portabella (1927-) made between 1967 and 1976, analysing the use of music in these films.
100 hundred years of Spanish animation
The Academy of the Arts and the Cinematographic Sciences of Spain in Madrid celebrated the International Day of the Animation last 28th October 2016 with the presentation of the book "100 years of Spanish animation: Art and technology".
Interview with Aleksandr Sokurov
Last July, Josep Torelló, a member of LMI, interviewed Aleksandr Nikolayevich Sokurov in St. Petersbug (Russia). The meeting was conducted in the framework of a postdoctoral research at Saint-Petersburg University.

The presence of music in films defined part of the ontological, narrative, expressive, dramaturgical, psychological and even historical mechanisms with which the cinematic language has articulated the space-time of the diegesis.
This paper examines these issues and completes a study of film music while explores the aesthetic relationship between music-image.
